In the US, if you would like your health insurance to cover a portion of your counseling either by being billed and paying the provider directly, or by reimbursing you after you have paid for services, it is important to understand not only the benefits, but the potential liabilities to you. If you have health insurance, you will be asked about it and given the option to use it or to opt out, for any insurance except Iowa Medicaid (clients may not opt out of insurance usage if they have Iowa Medicaid).
